BOGOTA — An Englewood man charged with aggravated sexual assault and burglary was arrested in Bogota after police learned he allegedly assaulted a female acquaintance while she slept.

Bogota Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested 23-year-old Andre York following an investigation on July 19, charging him with one account of aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree crime, and one count of count of burglary, a third-degree crime.

The victim was allegedly staying in Bogota at friend’s house overnight on July 14, according to a press release from Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

York, who reportedly was aware the victim was staying at the Bogota residence, allegedly broke into the property unbeknownst to the homeowner during the early morning and allegedly sexually assaulted the woman while she was sleeping, according to the release.

Bail of $125,000 with no 10 percent option or contact with the victim was set by Judge Donald Venezia of the Bogota Municipal Court.

York is currently being remanded to Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
