Swedish man held for stabbing wife

A Stockholm man is under investigation for the stabbing of his wife after calling the emergency services himself, saying “I killed her with a knife,” reported Swedish media on Sunday.

Police arrived on the scene on Saturday evening, and found the injured woman who was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but was later confirmed dead.

The incident occurred in Tyresö, outside Stockholm.

The man was standing outside their home when the police arrived and was reportedly calm and collected the whole time.

He made the call to SOS Alarm emergency services at 7.27pm on Saturday.

“I’ve killed my wife with a knife,” he said to the operator, according to the Aftonbladet newspaper.

“We went there immediately and his arrest was made calmly,” said Alexandra Godlund of the Nacka police force to the TT news agency.

The woman was found unconscious in the apartment. The couple has four children together, none of whom were at home at the time of the incident.

“Social authorities have taken the children into care,” said Godlund.

The police will be interrogating the suspect when he’s been appointed a lawyer, but have yet to find any motive for the deed.

“They’ve only spoken a little with him, so we haven’t got a motive or anything like that. He’s been pretty quiet, so we’re going to have to keep trying with him,” said Godlund to Aftonbladet.
