The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office says Greg Hensley, 47, apparently fatally shot his wife, Tracie Hensley, 49, and then killed himself at their home on Egypt Road in Salem Township on Thursday night.

A call came in to the Columbiana County 911 center at 10:16 p.m. about the shootings. Police found Tracie Hensley dead, according to The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV.

Witnesses said Greg Hensley was angry that his wife came home late from work.

Raymond Stone, Columbiana County sheriff, told WFMJ that Greg Hensley “went to the bedroom, retrieved a firearm, and returned to the kitchen area where he shot his wife, and then subsequently shot himself in the head.”

Tracie Hensley’s stepfather tried to disarm Greg Hensley, but was unable to, the sheriff said.

In addition to the stepfather, Tracie Hensley’s mother and the Hensleys’ 15-year-old daughter were in the secluded home, which is about 3 miles southeast of downtown Salem.

Investigators have been told that the couple moved to Salem Township from out of state and that Greg Hensley was unemployed.
